Sunday, March 15, 2015 – On 3/15/15 @ 1928 hrs. Rescue 3 was alerted to assist on a MVA on E/B Rt.50 @ the Kent Narrows Bridge. The following information is from www.stardem.com: Two people were killed and another injured when a wrong-way driver on Route 50 east hit a car head-on near Dundee Avenue just before the Kent Narrows bridge on Sunday evening, March 15, state police said. Police were not releasing the victims’ names Sunday night because the families had not been notified, Sgt. J. Hickey of the Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack said. The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Hickey said the driver of the at-fault vehicle, a minivan, was driving west in the eastbound lanes and hit the other vehicle head on, and the minivan caught fire. The driver and a passenger in the eastbound car were killed, and the driver who was at fault was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment, Hickey said. Route 50 east lanes were still closed as of Sunday night at about 10:30, police said, but westbound lanes, some of which had been closed earlier, were open again.
